Export MIDI Tracks to File and Notation Services

We have released a MIDI export feature which allows all our users to export their Soundtrap tracks into other DAWs and music composition software.

What is MIDI?

MIDI is short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. It’s a language that allows computers, musical instruments, and other hardware to communicate with each other.

How do I find it?

Choose File -> Export and find several export options, including export into notation services (Flat.io and Noteflight).

Notation services

Flat.io and Noteflight are notation services which allow you to write music scores online.

When logged in, the service will automatically generate the sheet music for you which can then be shared.

Soundtrap CEO Per Emanuelsson explains:

“Many musicians and music makers aren’t able to read music so this
new capability lets them automatically create and send scores to musicians, choirs and
others who might wish to perform their compositions.”

Use cases and integrations

For best results, we’d recommend adjusting the durations to the grid of the piano roll on Soundtrap.

Here is a guide from Flat.io on exporting and importing tracks to/from Soundtrap and their tips on how to do it.

Noteflight is another notation service and here is their guide on Soundtrap/Noteflight cooperation.
